Beautiful large celestine with great crystals

A large Celestite geode from Madagascar, with light blue to deep blue crystal points across the entire inner surface.

Celestite is strontium sulfate (SrSO₄). The light blue coloration is caused by traces of radiation defects in the crystal lattice and is a rare, almost textbook color in the mineral kingdom.

The main occurrences are in Madagascar (Mahajanga region) and Sicily. Madagascar material is known for its strong, uniform blue coloration; Sicilian material is lighter, often almost white.

What distinguishes this geode is the density of points across the entire inner surface, with uniformly blue-colored individual crystals.

Celestite is soft with a Mohs hardness of 3-3.5 and should be protected from mechanical stress. The coloration can fade with prolonged UV exposure.

A collector's item with a calm, almost meditative color presence, suitable as a central living space accent.
