Pink Amethyst is a rare variety of amethyst, whose pinkish-red coloration results from hematite inclusions in the quartz crystal lattice. In contrast to classic violet amethyst (coloration due to iron-radiation color centers), pink amethyst gets its color from tiny iron oxide particles.

The botryoidal, grape-like aggregates inside are characteristic of Uruguayan pink amethyst occurrences from Artigas. They form when quartz grows not in classic points but as a nodular-aggregating crust on the geode's inner surface.

The piece shows several color zones: deeper reddish-orange in the grape-like areas, lighter pink at the edge, individual dark accents in the depths of mineralization.

Occurrences are exclusively in a narrow zone in Artigas, Uruguay. Pink Amethyst solitaires of this size are rare to find on the market.
