Rock crystal is the purest variety of quartz (SiO₂). Yellow inclusions can have various mineralogical origins: fine limonite particles, densely arranged rutile needles, or an enclosed citrine phase from iron-containing solutions during crystallization.

Precise identification requires microscopic analysis. What is visible in the piece: a yellow light carrier in the clear quartz background, an optical effect that only comes into its own with very clear raw blocks.
