Lapis lazuli is a blue rock composed of lazurite, calcite, and pyrite. The famous deposits in Sar-i-Sang, Afghanistan, have provided the highest quality material worldwide for over six thousand years. In ancient Egypt, it was already used as a pigment for ultramarine blue.

The freeform processing follows the natural block geometry without forcing it into a schematic shape. Pyrite accents glitter like star fragments in the deep blue lazurite background.
