Pretty little amethyst geode from Brazil

A compact amethyst geode from Brazil with large, intensely purple crystals. The edge combines rock crystal, a narrow strip of blue chalcedony, and orange-brown carnelian.

This multi-colored banding marks various phases of geode formation. Iron inclusions create the warm carnelian tones, while the blue chalcedony zones originate from copper- or titanium-bearing residual solutions.

There was a crack in the upper area, which has been professionally repaired. The repair is not visually detectable and does not affect the stability of the piece.
