Large Citrine Geode Pair in the shape of angel wings or butterfly wings on a metal stand

A gigantic pair of citrine geodes from Brazil, opened like a pair of wings, mounted in a sturdy metal stand. The honey-colored points extend over the entire interior of both halves, characterized by the typical golden-yellow hue of natural citrine.

Citrine forms in agate nodules and geodes of volcanic origin. Crystallization proceeds undisturbed from silica-rich solutions over millions of years. The yellow coloration comes from traces of trivalent iron in the quartz lattice, a rare natural variant, as many citrines on the market are heat-treated amethysts.

The size of this pair makes it one of the largest collector's citrines on the market. Such geodes are recovered in the traditional mining regions of Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais from the large geodes of the Serra Geral basalt. Recovery takes several days underground.

The arrangement as a pair of wings is a curated presentation. The metal stand system holds the two halves in the geometry in which they originally formed the closed geode. Mirror-image growth symmetry thus becomes legible again.
