Large Amethyst with Best Quality on Metal Stand

A large amethyst geode in a slender, almost leaf-like shape, with the deep dark violet color typical of Best-Quality Class.

The geode shows an elongated, oval geode interior with dense small amethyst points across the entire display face. The white agate rim separates the pointed area from the darker outer edge.

Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and crystallizes in the volcanic gas cavities of lava flows. The violet coloration is caused by tiny traces of iron in the crystal lattice, which are stimulated into color centers under natural radiation.

The uniform depth of color, extending into the inner areas of the points, marks the Best-Quality Class. It comes almost exclusively from Uruguay (Artigas) or selected Brazilian deposits.

The black metal stand accentuates the shape and transforms the natural object into a sculpture.
