Colorful Iridescent Heart - Ammolite Heart

A colorful opalescent Ammolite heart from Canada, Alberta, displaying the full iridescent spectrum, from red to green to blue and gold. The multi-color variation is the rarest and highest-graded Ammolite characteristic.

The full-spectrum iridescence documents a particularly complex original shell anatomy: varying lamella thicknesses in different shell areas produce the entire color spectrum. Only about 10% of recovered Ammolite shells achieve this full-spectrum qualification.

The International Gemological Association has recognized Ammolite as an official gemstone since 1981. Full-spectrum pieces are considered 'AAA-Grade' and are the highest of the four quality classifications.
