Beautiful Quartz with Paraiba Tourmaline Inclusions

A beautiful quartz from Brazil, permeated by Paraiba tourmalines. The turquoise-blue copper-bearing tourmaline lines penetrate the clear quartz background like frozen veins of water.

Paraiba tourmaline is the copper-bearing gemstone variety of tourmaline, discovered in 1987 in the Brazilian state of Paraíba. The intense turquoise to greenish-blue coloration comes from traces of copper in the borosilicate lattice.

Quartz with Paraiba inclusions is highly valued gemmologically in the collector's trade. The parallel-grown constellation of both gemstone materials shows synchronous pegmatitic mineralization in the deposit.

Brazil supplies such multi-component aggregates from pegmatite deposits in Minas Gerais and Paraíba. The material is very limited in availability on the international market.
