Beautiful amethyst with many colorful agate eyes and a great edge

An amethyst geode with an unusually large number of colorful agate eyes along the lower rim and a wide, distinctly patterned agate border.

Agate eyes are concentric layers of chalcedony. They sit like painted eye patterns on the geode walls. They formed when a layer of silica-containing solutions was pulsed onto the geode wall before the amethyst grew.

The colorful pigmentation of the eyes (orange tones, light blue, beige) is caused by changing trace elements during the chalcedony phases. It is an indication of a particularly dynamic genesis with several mineralization waves.

Amethyst belongs to the quartz family. The violet coloration of the tips is caused by iron trace elements in the crystal lattice under natural irradiation over millennia.

What distinguishes this geode is the combination of deep purple tips and the unusual number of eyes. Usually, they only appear in one or two specimens per geode.

A collector's item of the highest class with didactic value. The zonal mineralization history is concentrated in a single piece.
