White Amethyst Cave with Agate Rim and Calcite

Three mineral phases document a complex mineralization history. The agate rim forms in the first solution phase with microcrystal banding. The main amethyst phase grows inwards with light tips. Calcite is deposited as a secondary mineralization on already formed quartz surfaces.

White amethyst geodes are a deposit-related color variant with a lower iron concentration. The light coloration in contrast to the agate rim is an expressive optical characteristic.
