Great amethyst and rock crystal heart on metal stand

The combination of amethyst (purple quartz) and rock crystal (clear quartz) in a heart cut documents a geode cross-section through both mineralization zones. The zonally separated color areas are visible as contrasting surfaces.

Brazilian deposits in Rio Grande do Sul provide such two-phase geodes. Clear rock crystal crystallized on the geode wall, and amethyst later in the interior of the cavity.

The shallow depth makes the piece wall-like. The metal stand fixes it in an upright display position.
