An agate obelisk from Brazil/Botswana. Classic obelisk shape with a nearly square base and four converging polished surfaces.
Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony, meaning microcrystalline quartz aggregates, with characteristic concentric banding. The lines document changing solution chemistry during geode filling.
The obelisk geometry is a classic architectural form. Botswana agate provides the material with typical banding stratification, which becomes readable differently from each of the four main views in the obelisk shape.
A compact collector's dimension for classic display cabinet or desk presentation. The geometric clarity of form makes the piece an architecturally expressive element.
The obelisk cut shape follows the Egyptian architectural tradition. Brazilian workshops in Rio Grande do Sul produce such mineral obelisks in a long-standing sculptural tradition with manual polishing.
Wipe dry with a soft cloth. If necessary, use lukewarm water without cleaning agents.
