A super rare amethyst geode from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with a striking smoky quartz star or smoky quartz flower grown into its purple inner wall. A multi-generational quartz variant with a visually emphasized focal point.

Amethyst and smoky quartz are both quartz varieties and differ only in their trace elements. An inclusion of both in a single aggregate documents oscillating solution chemistry: an amethyst phase with iron + radiation first, then a smoky quartz phase with aluminum + radiation.

The radially radiating growth geometry of the smoky quartz component creates the star or flower-like appearance. Such aggregates originate from central growth nuclei that emit microcrystals in all directions.
