Amethyst crystallizes in volcanic geodes of the Serra Geral basalt formation from silica-rich solutions over millions of years. Brazilian deposits in Rio Grande do Sul provide geodes of this size; the museum-quality premium pieces are manually selected.

What makes this piece special: an exceptionally large original geode volume with comparable height, width, and depth. The material value per unit volume increases disproportionately with block size.
