Uruguayan amethyst crystallizes in volcanic geodes of the Arapey Basalt Formation. This variety is considered the darkest, most deeply violet-colored amethyst variety worldwide. The premium classification evaluates color intensity and crystal clarity.

The polished back is a curatorial presentation decision. The natural exterior of the geode wall is transformed into a smooth, cut surface. The result is a double-sided legibility from two presentation directions.
