Horizontal geode geometries arise when the geode was lying horizontally in the basalt block and was stabilized in this position after being broken open. The distinctly wide shape opens up the crystal stage like a flat panorama.

The calcite crystals, as a secondary mineralization phase, grew on already formed quartz points after the amethyst growth was complete. White scalenohedral aggregates contrast transparently against the violet amethyst background.
