Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz. The lilac pastel hue indicates reduced iron concentration during crystallization. Brazilian deposits in Rio Grande do Sul yield a wide color spectrum, from light lilac to deep violet.

Slender, tall geode pairs originate in elongated tubular cavities within basalt flows. The original geode had a cylindrical shape, which, after splitting, has been preserved as two stele-like halves.

At 207 cm tall, it is classified in the collector's trade as a tower pair: slender, tall, architectural. Recovering intact pieces of this height and slenderness is particularly challenging.
