Amethyst Heart

An amethyst heart from Brazil with uniformly grown, lilac-colored crystals. The edge combines green agate and translucent quartz to form a polished rim. The back shows volcanic basalt rock.

The heart was cut from a gas bubble approximately 100 million years old. The crystals inside are unprocessed and display their natural brilliance.

Brazil supplies this amethyst material from the classic deposits in Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais. The coloring is due to iron inclusions in the quartz lattice.

Three observations: uniform crystal size, green agate rim as a color accent, visible basalt back as geological evidence.
