A calcite group from Indonesia. The cluster shows typical Indonesian calcite growth geometry with numerous parallel scalenohedral points emerging from a matrix base.
Indonesian calcite deposits are primarily found in the karst regions of Java and Sumatra. Calcite mineralization occurs in hydrothermal fissures within karst caves, through slow crystallization from calcium carbonate-saturated solutions.
The numerous individual crystals in the group follow the typical calcite scalenohedral symmetry. The material has a characteristic delicate yellow color due to trace iron in the microcrystal structure.
With a Mohs hardness of 3, calcite is relatively soft and acid-sensitive; cleaning should only be done dry with a soft cloth.
An Indonesian collector's item with documented karst provenance and typical scalenohedral growth anatomy.
Soft (Mohs 3), avoid scratches. Acid-sensitive, no vinegar or lemon juice. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
