The selection of the meteorite fragment follows a multi-stage selection process: first, an iron-nickel test (magnetic reaction), then acid etching of the cut surface for Widmanstätten structure verification, and finally spectroscopic iridium detection. Only after all three tests is a piece considered authentic.

The Widmanstätten structures, geometric lamellar patterns of kamacite and taenite, formed in the original asteroid core through segregation of the iron-nickel melt during very slow cooling. These structures cannot be replicated by terrestrial processes.
